Built well, but doesn’t fit all By Middle age tech freak Not sure why they say “special order” in the title, these are readily available and shipped instantly.
As expected, the quality of this Manfrotto device is excellent. I have been looking for some way to mount my binoculars on a tripod for some time now, but most items require your binoculars to have a threaded mounting hole. This device doesn’t need that – it just clamps down and holds on. The rubber grips are just right, not too hard but not too soft and has large serrations to keep from slipping. The tripod mount gives you 3 mounting options: 16mm hexagonal, and M5 & 1/4″ threads (the small one fits most consumer tripods).
Unfortunately, this would not fit my Olympus Trooper binoculars. The design of the clamp limits it to a uniformly round part of the binocular. The shape of my Oly would not give it a good spot to clamp and keep them level. I think the clamp in this case has been over designed. The clamp itself is incredibly industrial – like if you tightened it very hard, it could crush anything! That’s a good thing from a durability perspective, but it limited the shape that it can clamp to.
I gave it 4 stars for the quality of build and how well it would work in general. I took off one star for the limiting design which will prevent it from working for some models of binoculars. If it had fit my particular binoculars, I would be very happy with it. Fortunately, I am very happy with Amazon’s return policy.

Very solid but… doesn’t work with my Steiner Marine binoculars By Robert Keener This is a solid hunk of metal. Works great on a couple of my binos and the fact that it grips them from the side is nice in that it makes more room for your face and body (at least when being used with a monopod). Unfortunately, the main reason I bought it was so that I could clamp my Steiner Marine binoculars to a monopod for astronomical viewing purposes, but it does not open quite widely enough for the Steiners. Keeping it anyway for my other binoculars as it is a very quality product. Now awaiting delivery of the Nikon Binoc-u-mount in hopes that they work with the Steiners. (Note: Steiner Marine bnoculars do not have a mounting screw, so I am being forced to try alternative methods.) If you have normally shaped and sized binoculars, however, I unreservedly recommend this clamp.
